"Trilobed Opaline Enamelled Glass Pocket Emptier, Pantin Crystal Works, Circa 1880"
Trilobed opaline glass enameled bowl, Cristallerie de Pantin, circa 1880 This trilobed bowl is made of pink and red veined opaline glass, imitating agate or chalcedony. The bottom of the basin has a central circular decoration of golden scrolls, finely painted with enamel. The rim, cleverly folded inwards in three equal parts, is enriched with a relief decoration in gold and white enamel, depicting rocaille-style leafy scrolls. This type of ornamental object, with its marbled hues and refined craftsmanship, is characteristic of the production of the Cristallerie de Pantin in the 1870s-1880s, notably for its research into glasses imitating semi-precious stones and for its polychrome enamel and gold decoration techniques.
