Large photomicrograph, period silver print, circa 1910-1920, showing the cross section of a stem of Dicliptera suberecta [here named Jacobina], or otherwise called shrimp plant or Beloperone. It is a shrub native to Uruguay. The photograph is English, bearing an undeciphered signature on the back of the cardboard. The photograph measures 215x160 mm, mounted on 304x246mm cardboard. A contemporary hand added this handwritten note to the cardboard: "Acanthaceae. Jacobinia. Transverse section through junction of stem & petiole x 140 diam."
