"Pendulum In Gilt Bronze "the Virgin In The Chair" - 1st Part Nineteenth"
Tiered rectangular clock, with wire suspension mechanism, in gilded bronze, depicting "The Virgin at the Chair", taken from the work of the Italian painter Raphael (1483-1520). Mary, seated, holds the infant Jesus in her arms. The dial, surrounded by a ribbed cord, is graduated in Roman numerals. The body is decorated with winged putti, clouds and acanthus leaves. The base is decorated with shells, fruits and berries. Some will admire the sacredness of this object, while others will especially remember the love of a mother to her child. In both cases, this clock will appeal for its fine workmanship and its dazzling golden patina. ********** Period: 1st part of the 19th century Perfect condition. Complete movement, supplied with key.
