Display Cabinet In Rosewood And Cherry Wood Marquetry, Napoleon III Style—second Half Of The 19th Century

This Napoleon III display cabinet features an elegant cherry wood frame, whose warm natural grain is enhanced by finely crafted rosewood marquetry. It is topped by a superb Carrara marble panel with recessed corners, lending it a noble and sculptural presence typical of the Second Empire. The front, punctuated by two glass doors, reveals a bright interior ideal for displaying precious objects, while the molded frame highlights the finesse of the woodwork. The piece is enhanced by bronze hardware, including lock plates, latches, shoes, and a chiseled key; its fully functional lock attests to the piece’s integrity and authenticity. The base rests on blackened wooden spindle legs with gilded collars, creating a subtle contrast with the warm hue of the cherry wood and enhancing the display case’s overall elegance. The remarkable condition of the marble, bronzes, and marquetry makes this an exceptional piece, representative of the refined craftsmanship of the 19th century.
