Tomb Commode In Blond Mahogany, Regency Style - Mid 20th Century

Regency style chest of drawers, known as 'Tombeau', offering by definition generously curved lines, a domed front and potbellied sides. Its top is a pretty Gray and Pink Marble with a cut edge with double moldings. This ceremonial piece of furniture opens with three large drawers, assembled in 'Dovetails', and offering 15.5 cm depth in three rows. Their facades, underlined by a Rosewood outline, are, just like the sides of this Chest of Drawers, Inlaid with Blond Mahogany in friezes and Geometric Decorations. Each of these drawers is provided in the center with a fictitious keyhole, and on either side of two drooping handles 'aux Valets' in Bronze. The front uprights are adorned over their entire height with Bronzes representing, in particular, Busts of Women with Jewels, ending on the feet in vegetable arabesques. The cul-de-lamp of the lower crosspiece is also embellished with a Bronze Shell and foliage motifs.
