Decorative Bronze Bowl, Napoleon III Period – Mid-19th Century
A beautiful bronze cup resting on a gadrooned pedestal adorned with vegetal motifs. Its body is richly decorated with finely chiseled foliage and flowers. On each side, two ram's heads stand out, recalling the aesthetics of Antiquity and reinforcing its majestic character. Each face is decorated with a bunch of grapes and vine leaves. The urn is closed by a lid surmounted by a small pommel. Overall, it evokes a Renaissance style revisited during the Second Empire and seems to have been designed as much to adorn a refined interior as to demonstrate a taste for classical art. *******Period: Mid-19th century.
