Jules Merle, born June 1, 1883 in Laval and died in Brioude on January 2, 1978, was a French painter. Jules Merle is the son of Jules Merle, public works contractor, and Marie Rose Théaudière). A pupil of Gabriel Ferrier, he competed in 1909 for the Prix de Rome where he obtained the second second grand prize. In 1915, he married Eugénie Butin. In 1916, he won the Trémont Prize.
