"café On The Grande Plage In Biarritz" By Joseph Laulié (1928–2016)
LAULIÉ JOSEPH 1928–2016 )
Painter.
Born on April 15, 1928, in Ustaritz (64480).
At the age of fifteen, he received his first painting lessons from André Trébuchet (1898–1962). Later, he continued his art studies in Paris at the Académie Frochot, in Metzinger’s studio. He then enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts, studying in the studios of Narbonne and Chapelain-Midy.
Since 1967, he has exhibited at his gallery on Rue Mazagran in Biarritz. He lives and works in Biarritz.
Joseph LAULIÉ’s art, rich in nuance, both simple and understated, flourishes in
dreamy works with soft contours: intimate landscapes, sun-drenched seashores, and still lifes.
His very subtle use of light is imbued with great sensitivity. The colors are often chosen from a muted palette of blues, grays, and pinks, sometimes enlivened by a deep red.
