The son of a solicitor from Pont-Audemer, himself from Rouen families, Gosselin-Parelle was related to the painter Parelle. After studying in Rouen in Zacharie's studio, he entered the Paris studio of Bouguereau and Ferrier. A member of the Société des Artistes Rouennais, where he exhibited regularly, he was also a member of the Société des Artistes Français.
