Lucien Victor GUIRAND DE SCÉVOLA
(1871- 1950 )
Painter of portraits, still lifes, Flowers
He was a pupil of Cormon at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited, in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français. He later became a member of the Committee, and naturally an exhibitor, in Paris, of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Officier de la Légion d'honneur in 1914.
Making bare accuracy his sole aesthetic concern, he made a brilliant career as a society portraitist. It was in this capacity that his works became widespread. He executed portraits of the Duc de Massa, Henri Farman, the Duchesse d'Uzes, the Duchesse de Brissac, to name but a few.
