Jean Louis François Darey (1848-1917) was a student of Charles Émile Van Marcke de Lummen (1827-1890). He became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1885 and exhibited several times at this Salon. The Musée de Saintes (Charente-Maritime) holds one of his works (Flock of Sheep).
