Gaston Delaparede (1908–1995)
He showed a talent for drawing and painting from a very early age.
After studying at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, he settled in Brittany, where he drew inspiration from the beauty of the landscapes and the daily lives of the locals.
He first worked as a lemonade vendor, then as a cork merchant, before becoming a painter.
Married to a woman from Concarneau, he drew inspiration from the Concarneau school, painting lively and colorful scenes of the villages and ports of Cornouaille.
He often worked from photographs in his Paris studio.
Outside of Cornouaille, he traveled extensively and painted in North Africa.
He produced about a thousand paintings, but sold very few during his lifetime.
