"C. Lahaute (?) : "large Romantic Watercolor River Edge""
C. Lahaute (?) (19th century): "Riverside walkers", large watercolor 31 X 46 cm, circa 1860, mounted by a marie-louise with a gilded bevel in a gilded leaf frame 58 X 72 cm (small accidents). Completely in the romantic movement, but also under the influence of Corot, this beautiful sheet bears an unfortunately unknown signature, even if it is more legible than on the other, its calligraphy prevents me from deciphering it properly. But both the format, the quality of the touch and the restitution of the atmosphere, with this mother and her daughter seen from the back returning to the sunset, make it an exciting piece worthy of the greatest collections.
