China Early 20th : "opium Pipe Ii"

China early 20th century : “Opium pipe II”, enamelled porcelain decorated with cherry blossoms, copper and brass 7.5 X 6.5 cm in diameter, maximum height with the removable spout 12 cm. Well complete with the beak, the attachment hook and the rod used to take the burning opium ball, fixed by a chain on the hook. The smoke from the combustion of the opium, deposited in the center of the receptacle, protected from drafts by the oversized edge, was cooled by the water contained in the pipe before being inhaled by the smoker. The terrible opium trade led to a Sino-Western war known as the Boxer Rebellion. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
