Spencer Model 1865 Cal .52 RF Barrel: 51cm Overall length: 94.5cm Weight: 3.75kg Lever action rifle, .52 caliber rimfire (13mm at the muzzle) in very good condition, original walnut stock with two trader markings left side 'EAW' & 'DAP'. Wood with wear and with a crack towards the butt plate. Interior of mirror barrel with deep scratches, light corrosions are present. Lack of finish on the exterior surfaces of the rifle and presence of slight oxidation. The exterior surface is still smooth despite the oxidation stains (no exterior pitting). The top of the breech 'SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS PAT'D MARCH 6 1860'. Rifle complete with saddle ring, adjustable rear sight and its removable tubular magazine which is housed in the stock. A manual safety that locks the under guard lever is present. Perfect functioning, hammer without play and firm springs, smooth underguard lever system. The Spencer is the first personal long gun officially adopted and mass-produced by an industrialized nation. This copy was most likely used during the Franco-Russian war. Ref S4795
