Portrait-caricature Of Piedmontese Painters. Around 1950
Caricature of painters.
Giovanni Brancaccio. (Pozzuoli, 1903-Naples, 1975).
Painted with a crowd of characters, evidently painters and a waiter in the upper left.
Dipinto has the character of a sketch, which the painter was modifying.
We see two writings: one and the signature of the artist, G. Boccaccio.
This signature is found under the figure with umbrella, which looks almost like a giant, from whose coat small paintings hang, perhaps for sale along the road, dressed as a person who is very cold compared to his friends around .. And the reason is obvious: painter from Southern Italy in the midst of
Piedmontese accustomed to mountain climates.
One of the paintings depicts Vesuvius with fire above the top - a clear allusion to the origins of the depicted, around Naples.
Another inscription - Giulio Boetto (and actually resembles the famous Piedmontese painter, with sprcific hairhut), is found under the figure he paints in front of the painter's easel.
The ensemble is a group of painter friends, some with drawing folders under their arms.
According to oral tradition, the painting comes from a hotel in the mountainous areas of Piedmont, where the group of friendly painters used to go.
A small piece is missing at the top, perhaps being born like the sketch, the author has used a cardboard from the beginning that he understood.
