Precious Martin Varnish Wig Box

Magnificent 18th century wig box, in Martin varnish with a black "aventurine" background, and very fine gold decoration. The lid is decorated in its center with a gallant scene in a rich frame of garlands of flowers, turbaned children, shells, cherubs... All around is a frieze of lambrequins, rosettes, children's faces, eagles. .. The other sides are also richly decorated, and the interior is red lacquered (with a collection inventory number). All the hinges and lock plate are original, in chiseled and gilded brass. Very good condition despite some wear to the gilding in places.
