Mali, Dogon people, mid-twentieth century or earlier, very pretty carved stone maternity. The mother carries her child on her back. This one has the head positioned on one side, allowing to appreciate the two characters on a three-quarter view. Beautiful quality sculpture. Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear.
