Nepal, early 19th century, a rare and very beautiful bronze altar dedicated to the Bodhisattva Sadaksari Lokeshvara, depicted in a niche, seated on a lotus throne, his arms holding his attributes. The side columns of the niche feature various depictions of animals. The top is adorned with a monster holding a snake in its mouth and flanked by two water dragons (Makara). Beautiful patina of age.
The back of the altar has been lacquered.
