Statuette China Lokapala Ming 18thc Wood
Lokapala, China, 18th century. Carved wooden statuette of a guardian of Buddhist law. He wears black boots, his left foot turned slightly outward and his right foot inward, adopting a martial arts stance. He is dressed in a long tunic covering armor belted at the abdomen, with a Tao Tie mask. The entire piece is lacquered red and black and gilded with gold leaf on the attributes. His right arm is raised and his left arm rests on the breastplate. The two spears and the cap are missing. Signs of wear and losses.
