India, early 19th century, very pretty bronze oil lamp used for the rites of the Hindu religion. The very elaborate bas-relief decoration represents on the front the goddess Lakshmi in her Gajalakshmi form (anointed by two elephants) and, on the side, two small figures in a geometric decoration. On the back, the lamp is decorated with a relief motif also representing the goddess Gajalakshmi. Beautiful patina of use. Good condition. Dimensions: Height 13.4 x Width 9 x Depth 9 (cm).
