Tibet, late 19th century, a superb oblong nine-pointed bronze vajra whose points curve toward the central axis.
The carving is particularly elaborate, featuring nine finely chiseled points.
The vajra is the most important ritual implement and symbol in Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, embodying its spiritual power.
Its scepter-like form adheres to very precise symbolic codes. The central sphere embodies emptiness, and the symmetrical branches symbolize the poisons of the mind, which are transformed through practice into primordial wisdom.
