The decoration depicts cranes in flight and posed, evolving in a watery landscape with vegetation, treated with a very fine sense of movement and detail.

The cranes, a symbol of longevity and happiness in Japan, are rendered here with a fine quality of chasing and modeling.

The base bears a molded Japanese stamp, attesting to workshop production during the Meiji period.
