Achille Fouquier (1817-1895?) 16 : "talking Turks"

Achille Fouquier (1817-1895?) 16 “Turks discussing” pencil drawing heightened with white stone on gray paper, 21 X 21 cm at sight, signed with the stamp of the signature circa 1853, framed by a marie-louise 50 X 35 cm. This drawing shows us figures dressed in the oriental style chatting, some standing, others seated. An indefatigable traveler, Achille Fouquier brought back sketches, anecdotes and observations from his many trips, collected in several books that were published. Whether from the Basque Country (he was mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Luz), Italy, Greece, the Balkans or the Middle East, his drawings taken from life are testimony to the history of these regions Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
