Beautiful painting on wood pannel, 17th or 18th century, which was probably painted in a monastery in Mediterranean Europe, (as the shape of the veil of the Virgin suggests), with meticulous care and a sure hand. The child's hands and feet are superb, as is his expression. The slightly curved, hand-folded panel shows traces of adze on the back.
Dimensions = 25.5cm and 21cm.
Condition is good, no repaint, (UV checked), there is a black shadow of the lower right corner garment which is perhaps a repentance.
