Very elegant wine ewer in sterling silver and vermeil from the Victorian era of an extremely rare model which copies terracotta wine jugs, ropes and wicker as was done in Italy in the nineteenth century. This luxury item is probably a special order from an English aristocrat who was nostalgic for the Italy of the "Grand Tour" and its intoxicating wine.
