Elegant young man painted in miniature, probably on ivory richly dressed in blue coat. The octoganal frame is in rosewood marquetry (micro-cracks on the surface visible on photo) inlaid with a finely chiseled brass thread also octagonal (a brass thread has been changed). Decoration of half-pearls carved in wood, eleven are missing on the edge on the right (see detail photo). The circular miniature is protected by an original slightly convex glass, itself surrounded by a thin brass frame decorated in relief with leaves and stylized ribbons. The back is covered with a gouache wallpaper bearing the label at the top where is written: A. GIROUX et Cie. Certainly the reference for manufacturing the frame made by the painter and tablet maker Alphonse Giroux, given the quality of the frame. In view of all these elements, I consider the ensemble from the beginning of the 19th century. Modern brass hanging hook. Note: despite the micro-cracks, the whole remains pleasant to look at, good appearance of the surface varnish. State of discovery. Delivery: 10 € for mainland France.
