High Curiosity 17thc: Remembrance Of The Huaut Brothers, Enamels Of Geneva
Artist: Les Freres Huaut
Plate of oval brass, beautiful mercury gilding, it was the back of enamels on copper or gold, it bears the signature of Huaut brothers, prestigious enamellers of Geneva, late seventeenth century. Additional curiosity: the signature test engraved on the back of the plate: the engraver, for the sake of ornamentation, missed Huaut H, and therefore had to redo, more simply a second engraving.
The Huaut brothers, son of Pierre Huaut, French Protestant forced to emigrate to Geneva for his faith, are Peter II, Jean-Pierre (1655-1724) and Ami (1657-1724) who were appointed official painters on the Court's e-mail by HRH the Prince of Brandenburg. Their works are found in the most prestigious museums.
