Fan, Eighteenth Century.

This silk fan is 16 strands, it has on one side, three reserves, painted with gouache. The largest, in the center, is a genre scene where we see a gallant offer a lady a bird in a cage, on both sides, a smaller cartridge inside which one can see a side a young man and the other a girl. The whole is placed in a rich vegetal decoration of multicolored flowers, embroidered with fine chains. The ivory strands are decorated with a chiseled decoration and inlaid with silver. The first and the last strand are perforated and decorated with floral motifs enhanced with silver. Very delicate object whose silk begins to cut at the folds. Ivory, silk and gouache, second half of the 18th century. Length folded 28 cm.
