"Corn And Ivory Victorian Cardbox"
Although containing maps of the late nineteenth, I think this beautiful box dates from the mid-nineteenth. Made up of large plates of hot horn mounted on a soul of precious wood, the equivalent of wooden trunks are made here of ivory carved and engraved.
Monogrammed "S H", it has two sets of 52 cards and two ivory plates engraved with counters.
State: accidents with ivory, horn distorted and dislocated in two places, lacks the key.
Maybe Anglo-Indian manufacture.
7 x 17.5 X 13.2 cm.
