Neapolitan Terracotta Nativity Scene Goat – Naples, 19th Century
An interesting figure of a goat from a Neapolitan nativity scene, crafted in polychrome terracotta and modeled with particular attention to the rendering of the animal’s fleece and features. Its lively posture, with its head raised and mouth slightly open, gives the figure remarkable expressiveness.
It retains its original polychrome paint in shades of brown and ochre, with natural signs of aging and wear consistent with its era.
