Liturgical Chalice In 800 Silver – Naples, Late 19th Century
An exquisite liturgical chalice in 800 silver, finely chased and embellished with a gold-plated interior. An elegant example of late 19th-century Neapolitan sacred metalwork, characterized by a rich decorative repertoire in the Neo-Baroque style.
The decoration features a complex iconographic program depicting the Arma Christi and Eucharistic symbols, including the Veil of Veronica, the dove of the Holy Spirit, the lamp, the cruets, and other liturgical emblems finely crafted using repoussé and chisel techniques. It bears the hallmark of the Neapolitan silversmith Catello and the fineness mark M.800.
