18th Century Holy Water Bucket, Formerly Silver-plated, Fine Model
Dimensions (without handle): 19 × 17 cm
Weight: 0.7 kg
Fine liturgical holy water bucket in the Louis XIV Baroque style, made of brass and formerly silver-plated, intended for holding holy water.
This elegant model of classical inspiration stands on a stepped circular foot, secured with an old threaded assembly. The hammered body, flaring in a graceful ogee profile, is decorated with two pronounced molded bands embellished with acanthus leaves and small palm motifs in relief. The upper rim is gently turned outward. Two finely cast brass shell-shaped mounts support a freely swinging handle made of the same metal.
Good overall condition, with minor surface distortions consistent with age and use. The original silver plating remains visible on approximately 60% of the surface.
French work of the 18th century.
