Celadon-glazed ceramic lamp signed Théodore Deck (1823–1891), 19th century, with its antique lampshade
Important celadon-glazed ceramic lamp, signed by Théodore Deck, 19th century
A remarkable lamp crafted from celadon-glazed ceramic, with an incised signature by Théodore Deck, a renowned 19th-century French ceramicist known for the quality of his glazes and the richness of his chromatic experiments.
The piece features an elegant ovoid body topped by a long cylindrical neck adorned with leaf motifs in relief.
The body is magnificently decorated with a rich repertoire of plant motifs in relief, consisting of leafy scrollwork and floral designs, accentuated by the subtle shades of the celadon green glaze.
The lower section is enlivened by a frieze of undulating motifs, lending rhythm and depth to the composition.
The piece rests on a circular bronze base decorated with gadroons, which harmoniously accentuates the silhouette of the ceramic.
The lamp comes with its original lampshade, made of beige pleated silk and embellished with braids, lace, and delicate fringes, giving the piece a particularly refined appearance.
With the quality of its relief decoration, the subtlety of its celadon glaze, and the elegance of its frame, this lamp reflects the historicist and decorative tastes of the second half of the 19th century.
A piece full of character, combining the ceramic art of Théodore Deck with the decorative art of antique lighting.
