Jean Chardar – Seaside Landscape In Martinique
Jean CHARDAR – Seaside Landscape in Martinique
Oil on panel, signed on the back
A superb and expressive oil painting on panel depicting a typical coastal landscape of the West Indies (Martinique).
The composition offers a lively and very luminous view: in the foreground, slender coconut palms tower over the beach lined with traditional Creole huts. In the background, the turquoise sea opens onto a mountainous horizon beneath a richly textured sky dotted with billowing clouds.
The artist employs a rich and dynamic brushstroke, playing beautifully with the tropical light and the contrasts in the vegetation.
