Ferdinand OLIVIER (1873-1957). Official naval painter in 1905. First winner of the Prix de l'Indo-Chine in 1910 awarded by the Société Coloniale des Artistes Français and Prix de la Peinture Coloniale in 1920.
Born in Martigues He entered Eugène Carrière's studio at the Beaux-Arts in his youth. In 1905, he was appointed official painter to the French Navy.
In 1926, he took part in the exhibition organized by the newspaper "La Hune peintres de la mer". He mainly depicted Provence: Aubagne - Carry le Rouët and Martigues
Painter contemporary of the Impressionists, but closer to the Symbolists.
