A significant and spectacular natural terracotta sculpture from the Art Deco period (circa 1920–1930), signed on the base by the Belgian sculptor Eugène Canneel (1882–1966).
The composition, with its remarkable stylistic dynamism, depicts a nude young woman with a boyish haircut—an archetype of the Roaring Twenties aesthetic. She is flanked by two putti/children holding baskets filled with fruit and bunches of grapes, evoking the allegories of Abundance and the Grape Harvest.
The generous volumes, the stylized treatment of forms, and the gentle geometrization of details (particularly the hair) fit perfectly within the Belgian Art Deco movement.
