An Elegant Lady With Goats, Watercolour On Cardboard, Circa 1900–1920. Signed Victor Creten
A charming watercolour and gouache on cardboard depicting an elegant lady seen from behind, surrounded by goats in a rural landscape. Wearing a long, light-coloured coat and a hat adorned with green ribbons, she stands in a flower-filled meadow, with a red-roofed house in the background.
The composition delights with its delicate palette: emerald greens, cream tones and pink-tinged clouds create a peaceful atmosphere. The free brushwork and simplified forms lend the scene a particularly decorative quality.
The work bears a stylised signature in the lower right corner and the inscription “Victor Creten” on a piece of paper attached to the back of the frame.
