Artist: Lalauze Alphonse
Alphonse Lalauze (1872-1941), history painter, was the son of engraver Adolphe Lalauze (1838-1906). A student of the painter Édouard Detaille, he specialized in military subjects and later became an official army painter. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour. He died on May 26, 1941, in Marvejols. The painting is in a mahogany frame with a gilt brass molding and a cannon on each of the four sides, surmounted by a flaming bomb. Height 39 cm, width 24.7 cm
