Discrete 18th-century Reliquary In A Brass Case

Dimensions: 7 × 5.5 × 1.5 cm

From a small Austrian religious art collection, this 18th-century convent-made reliquary is housed in a plain brass case. This anonymous case is fitted with a suspension loop, allowing it to be worn as a pendant. It closes with two small hook clasps; the locking mechanism is functional but Hinge  slightly stiff.

Inside, beneath two oval mica windows, is a printed image of the Virgin and Child on silk on one side, and an elaborate textile reliquary on the other. On centre is an oval embroidery on fabric, partially worn. Surrounding it are six textile relics, each set beneath decorative gold and silver threads on red and gilt ribbons.

The visible inscriptions read: St Claudij, St Innocentii Martyr, St Honestii M., St Augustae, St Blandinae, and St Justinae M.

Good overall condition, with no notable flaws. An 18th-century religious devotional object.
