A beautiful ethnic object, whose artistry has inspired artists like Bugatti for his furniture, this camel saddle, or tamzak, is made from acacia wood covered with red-dyed leather, black Kano (goat) leather, camel hide, and stitched and braided tendons for reinforcement.
This type of small and lightweight saddle, designed for racing, was sought after by Tuareg of Sahara for controlling caravan routes. Height: approximately 57cm x 53cm x 53cm. Weight: 2.8kg.
Condition: fairly good, but this saddle has been used; there are signs of wear and scratches. It is old, dating from late 19th or early 20th century.
