Paintings: Pair Of 19th-century Trompe-l'œil Still Lifes Featuring Game, Circa 1890

Paintings: Pair of 19th-century trompe-l'œil works Still Lifes with Game 1890
A magnificent pair of hunting still lifes depicting two small birds suspended by their legs, painted in trompe-l'œil on a wooden panel.
Created in 1890, these works stand out for the finesse of the plumage rendering and the striking contrast with the natural grain of the wooden panel serving as the background. This type of subject was particularly sought after in the late 19th century to decorate cabinets of curiosities, libraries, or hunting lodges.
Each painting is set in a molded blackened wooden frame accented with an elegant gilded border
