Liqueur Set With Openwork Decoration In Solid Silver, Japan, Mid-20th Century
A unique Japanese liqueur set that combines the lightness of clear glass with delicate engraving on 950 sterling silver. The set includes a large decanter with a stopper, eight liqueur glasses, two tumblers, and three serving accessories (salt shaker, pepper shaker, and a bottle with a spout), arranged on its original round tray.
Each piece is adorned with an openwork silver design depicting branches of cherry blossoms—an iconic motif in Japanese art, symbolizing fleeting beauty. The motif is finely cut out and applied to the glass surface, creating an elegant contrast between the transparency of the glass and the chiseled texture of the metal.
