Louis XVI-era Barometer And Thermometer, 18th Century
Carved wooden barometer and thermometer, lacquered in gray and gold, signed "Cappy et Neveu"; dial dated 1776; Louis XVI period, 18th century. Richly ornamented with carved and gilded wood: flowers and foliage on the openwork pediment, a bouquet of flowers in a vase at the base, the whole surrounded by a beaded frieze. Gold leaf gilding and lacquer in good condition (previously regilded and relacquered). Complete mercury movement (not serviced).
