Walnut Bed With Inlay, Charles X Period, Early 19th Century. (251 Cm X 120 Cm)

An exceptional and imposing bed made of walnut with light wood marquetry, dating from the Charles X period, circa 1825.

Its tall, curved sides lend it a highly dramatic appearance. This bed rests on six lion-paw feet—four at the front and two at the back. The front panel features three drawers, each with its own lock (keys missing). The drawers extend the full depth of the bed.

Its marquetry depicts angels, plants, and foliage.

This bed comes with its box spring, mattress, two pillows, two bolsters, and the fabric covering the mattress.

This piece can be disassembled into three parts; the curved sides are removed using through-hole nuts (see photo). The base remains in one piece, though the drawers can be removed.

This piece is in good condition; note a few minor historical restorations as well as some natural wear and tear from age, which in no way detract from its charm and exquisite decoration.
