Pair Of Louis XVI Style Bookcases In Mottled Mahogany, Late 19th Century, Circa 1900. (197cm X 179cm).
An exceptional pair of Louis XVI style bookcases, crafted from mahogany and mottled mahogany veneer, dating from the very late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1900. The frames are oak. Each bookcase features four doors: two solid doors on the sides and a double glazed door in the center. Each bookcase contains four large shelves and eight smaller shelves, for a total of 24 shelves. All shelves are adjustable and can be positioned at any desired height. The shelves are edged with solid mahogany molding. These bookcases are richly ornamented with bronze mounts depicting garlands and capitals. Each bookcase rests on six tapered legs, four at the front and two at the back. Each leg is capped with bronze sabots. Each door has its own key and lock, which function perfectly. This pair of bookcases is in good condition, with very slight signs of age. They are beautifully crafted, of high quality. They are fully demountable, thanks to their long, round-headed, drilled nuts. Dimensions: 197cm wide, 179cm high, 46cm deep.
