Superb mahogany bibus stamped G.Durand, gilt bronze trim, of very good quality. Marble top surrounded by a gallery. Adjustable shelving, original, inside. Very good condition, french polish. 19th century period Gervais-Maximilien Durand is a Parisian cabinetmaker of the 19th century born in Paris on July 30, 1839[1] and died in Paris 4th on November 26, 1911[2]. He settled at 12 rue de la Cerisaie then at 23 rue Beautreillis and finally in the former Hôtel de Sully at 62 rue Saint-Antoine. An exceptional craftsman, he distinguished himself at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 for which he won a silver medal. According to the report of A. Picard: "Mr. Durand, a cabinetmaker as skilled as he was modest, exhibited for the first time first-rate furniture, of which he was both the designer and the maker.
