Kabyle Oil Lamp
We present this Kabyle oil lamp, known as “Idekki” or “mesbat bu tuyat” in Berber. These pottery pieces are made exclusively by women using traditional methods. They always feature black and ochre geometric patterns.
These pottery pieces are often given as gifts at weddings. I find this one to be particularly well-crafted.
Late 19th century, early 20th century.
