"Jean Gerbino (1876-1966) Vallauris Large Polychrome Mosaic Earthenware Planter Signed"
Large cache pot in mosaic earth and nériage (mixture of mixed earth), process invented by a craftsman of Sicilian origin Jean Gerbino, naturalized French in 1928. In Vallauris, this craftsman had the idea of associating different techniques of mosaic and nériage, using clays colored in the mass by oxides, and by working them, to assemble them flat in order to form patterns arranged in molds, depending on the objects. These pieces undergo two firings. This cache pot is signed under the base "Gerbino" and "Vallauris" this piece is in perfect condition.
