This oblong-shaped basket in marquetry embellished with brass nets decorated with interlacing and foliage motifs, with a serrated edge and a wooden handle inlaid with chevrons. This object bears under the base a stamp of the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1895, the monogram BJ and the name R. Magnin Lyon The table maker is the craftsman who produces individually or in small quantities decorative objects in solid wood or veneer such as this extremely fine basket.
